Delivery and performance
Akamai's delivery products cache and accelerate pages, images and video from servers close to your visitors, with detailed caching rules for each part of a site.
Akamai runs more than 4,300 edge points of presence in over 130 countries. Enterprise teams use it to deliver and protect high-traffic sites and APIs, and more and more to run code and workloads close to their users. Sengo delivers projects on Akamai: we set up delivery and security in front of your CMS or DXP, move logic to the edge where it pays off, and keep the configuration understandable for your team.

Web application firewall, bot, API and DDoS protection in one product, with rules updated from Akamai's threat intelligence. A hybrid version extends the firewall beyond the Akamai edge.
Serverless JavaScript that runs on Akamai's edge servers, with EdgeKV to read data at the edge. Useful for redirects, geolocation, experiments and API logic without a round trip to your origin.
The former Linode cloud: virtual machines from $5 per month, S3-compatible Object Storage and managed Kubernetes, with data transfer bundled into plans. A practical home for origins, APIs and headless CMS workloads.
We decide what Akamai should handle and what your CMS, front-end host or cloud should handle: caching layers, origins, security zones and failover. That decision belongs inside a wider upgrade plan.
Delivery rules, cache keys, purge on publish and certificates, kept in version control through Akamai's API and Terraform support, so every change is reviewed like code.
We tune firewall and bot rules against your real traffic, so attacks are blocked without locking out editors, integrations or search engines.
We move a CMS or DXP behind Akamai, or from another CDN, without breaking redirects, caching or SEO. Everything is tested on a staging hostname before the DNS change.
We move logic that slows your origin into EdgeWorkers when it saves time or money, and leave it in the application when it does not.
We stay accountable for the CMS or DXP running behind Akamai, in English and French, and work with your Akamai account team when a change needs them.
Platform comparisons
Side-by-side comparisons with fair verdicts, pricing models and migration paths.
Akamai is a cloud and security company that has been delivering websites since 1998. Its edge platform delivers and protects sites, apps and APIs, and Akamai Cloud adds compute, storage and Kubernetes. At the end of 2025, Akamai reported more than 4,300 edge points of presence in over 130 countries.
No. Sengo delivers projects on Akamai but does not hold an Akamai partnership. Our hosting partnerships are with Netlify and Dataweavers, and we disclose them wherever they apply. That independence lets us tell you when Akamai is the right layer and when the CDN built into your host already covers what you need.
When traffic is high or spread across many countries, when security requirements are strict, or when several sites, apps and APIs need one delivery and security layer. A single site with moderate traffic is often well served by the CDN included with Vercel, Netlify or its DXP host.
Yes. Akamai works in front of any web origin, including Sitecore, Optimizely and headless front ends. The care goes into cache rules, purge on publish and personalization, so visitors never see stale content or content meant for someone else. Some front-end clouds publish specific guidance on running behind another CDN, and we follow it when we design the setup.
Delivery and security products are usually sold through an enterprise contract, quoted for your traffic and requirements. Akamai Cloud compute is self-serve and billed by the hour, with shared virtual machines starting at $5 per month.
They solve different problems. Vercel and Netlify host and deploy front ends, Dataweavers operates Sitecore and Optimizely in your own Azure tenant, and Akamai delivers and protects traffic at the edge. See Vercel vs Akamai, Netlify vs Akamai and Dataweavers vs Akamai.
